The predominant language in Internet continues being the English; nevertheless, the statistics show a constant progression of the main Latin languages (Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Rumanian) in the network. Between the 1998 and 2005, presence of the Latin languages in the network has practically duplicated, whereas the one of the English under 75% to 45%.

Relative presence of the Latin languages, and the German, with respect to the English in the Network

The following picture shows the evolution of the relative presence, with respect to the English, of the Latin languages and the German in the network. They are trustworthy results of the study.

Absolute presence of languages in the network

From the relative results of the Latin languages, of the evolution of these results and an approach of the presence of the languages non studied, the absolute presence of the languages in the network is deduced. This one constitutes an approach based on a non verifiable hypothesis on the absolute weight of the English in the network.

Tendency of the evolution of the Latin languages in the network

The new tendencies show that the French increases more quickly than the Spanish and the Portuguese; in September of 1998 it already happened for the first time over the Spanish. With respect to the Spanish and to the Portuguese, the sample confirms a stagnation after the great growth of the previous years. The delayed opening of France (and Belgium) towards Internet could explain the progress of the French, without mentioning the voluntary policy of francophonia in favor of the production of contents.

Since 1998, can observe a constant reduction of the predominance of the English by the advance of the other languages of the planet, in particular the one of the languages of the emergent countries.
