My name is Gerwin Verschuur.
I work for the Centre for Agriculture and Environment (CLM) that is based
in The Netherlands. CLM is promoting a multifunctional agriculture through
research, advice, debate and mediation.
I have been involved in the process "What countryside, what food, what
agriculture for Europe?" (Barcelona 99). Since the conference in Valencia,
I have been particularly involved in the topic : relations between
agriculture and society.
My study background includes agricultural engineering and political
science. I live in a city which was created at the bottom of the sea and
grew from zero to almost 150,000 inhabitants in the last 25 years.
I am particularly interested in mediation between the international and the
local levels as well as the rural and the urban dimensions.
