An update of networks in Latin America and the Caribbean in 1993
This paper focuses the relationship between Telecom Operators and Research Networks in Developing Countries. The concept of a mutual benefit relationship is presented as a desirable objective.
What is the social impact of using research and academic networks as a tool for communication? Is this impact going to be transformed in a true human revolution or is it going to be reserved to a limited amount of people (somehow like the CB radio phenomenon)?
FUNREDES: "Networks and Development" is a new organization formed to help the way of the Internet in Developing Countries
This document corresponds to Daniel Pimienta's presentation at the "First Latin American and Caribbean Networks Workshop", which took place at Rio de Janeiro from October 7th till October 11th, in 1991.
