Our mission and objectives

Our mission

CARIBCAD (Cooperative Approach to the Realization of Internet Based CAD) is a research project with the goal of developing a system of using CAD (Computer Aided Design) on the Internet. 

Our objectives

The general objective of the project is to develop methods, protocols and tools for the out sourcing of CAD workloads from engineering companies in Europe to specialized companies in developing countries. This will be done by: 

• creating a well trained team in Europe and the Caribbean in order to achieve comparative levels in research
• setting research parameters on protocol development, data sharing, work flow management and quality control over the Internet
• realizing cooperative solutions in key target areas
• archiving the existing building stocks in Europe
• managing the urban environment through efficient GIS applications around the world
• smoothing the peak loads in the CAD workload of European engineering enterprises, with an emphasis on labour intensive CAD work in detailing and client presentations
• disseminating the results (through this Web site)
