Having followed the Haiti saga from the very first days of the domain name owner dispute - where IANA got into a bit of a mess - my view is that the most useful contribution that can be made here is to keep a spotlight on what is going on. There are domestic forces at cross purposes inside Haiti and there are outside commercial actors in the mix. At stake is the ownership of a potentially valuable asset.
The best an outside spotlight can do is help the people of Haiti, and their government, arrive at a equitable and fair solution. There is no UN or private sector "silver bullet" (i.e., magic) solution there.
