  International Office for Water (IOW)
  The IOW is a non-profit-making association. Its objective is to gather public and private partners involved in water resources management and protection in France, Europe and in the world (bi- and multi-lateral cooperation organizations, ministries, water agencies, local communities, universities, engineering schools, research centres, land development companies, water suppliers and professionals, industrialists, professional associations, non governmental organizations) in order to set up a partners' network. It now comprises 149 member organizations. (E)

  World Water Council
  The World Water Council is a newly established nonprofit, nongovernmental umbrella organization devoted to the critical issues of long-term global water policy and to advocating solutions to problems of water resource management. In essence, the Council is an international water policy think tank that is not limited to intellectual efforts alone but will be an active participant in strategic areas of the international water policy debate. Its members include a wide cross-section of individuals and organizations concerned with the various aspects of international water policy. (E)

  National Water Resources Association (NWRA)
  The mission of the association is to advocate Federal policies, legislation and regulations promoting the development, management, protection and beneficial use of water resources that represent the interest of its members. The National Water Resources Association is a nonprofit federation of state organizations whose membership includes rural water districts, municipal water entities, commercial companies and individuals. As an Association we are concerned with the appropriate management, conservation, and use of water and land resources on a national scope. NWRA works to balance the needs of people and the environment. (E)

  The Inter-American Water Resources Network is a network of networks whose purpose is to build and strengthen water resources partnerships and collaboration among the water resources community of the Americas.   International Joint Commission (IJC)
  Canada and the United States created the IJC because they recognized that each country is affected by the other's actions in lake and river systems along the border.   Interstate Council on Water Policy (ICWP) - National Water Policy Charter
  The Interstate Council on Water Policy (ICWP) is an organization of state and regional government water managers with a thirty-five year history of advocacy on water policy issues at the state and federal level. The roles of federal, state, regional and local government in water management, which have evolved slowly over the past century or more, are now undergoing rapid change. Recognizing the need to respond more quickly than in the past to new proposals, and indeed to be more proactive as laws and institutions are modified, ICWP embarked on a National Water Policy Project in the Fall of 1994.   Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD)
  The purpose of the SWFWMD web site is to to provide citizens with timely and useful information about the region's water resources. The site contains the District's mission, budget, and management plan; rules, press releases, calendars, program descriptions, and conservation information; technical reports, issue papers, a monthly newsletter, an on-line publication for students, and much more. The site is a model for public agencies that depend upon a "water wise" citizenry to design and implement initiatives and to achieve water management goals. (E)

  The IRC believes that access to water and sanitation are basic human rights.
