Ivan is coming, dancing indeed, and we should hear its music, and
prepare to receive him, rather than expecting and un-probable turn away
(i also hope he turn away, but lets be realistic). I have seen and
experienced personally, as many Caribbean, the suffering and destruction
of hurricanes, principally for the poor and the already marginalized (we
middle and upper class have means to overcome quickly and do not loose
many things..) Each hurricane is an opportunity we loose in thinking how
we should live with the nature, adapt to hirricanes, benefit from them,
not try to be stronger, but build our homes, towns and lifestyles taking
them into account. They were here before us, and they will be here after
we are all gone. They are part of our Caribbean being (or we of
theirs?). They shape(d) the Caribbean (fauna flora and culture) and play
an important role in maintaining healthy biodiversity. They are part of
the (our?) death and life cycle... so lets their drumming and dancing
point our way to go, lets make something usefull out of all this
"information" and supposed "knowledge" we "network" , and lets get
prepared to receive them as part of our natural cycles.
