I announced myself as the new editor at Linux Gazette (LG) today -
http://www.linuxgazette.com/node/view/9376
What that has to do with this list, is... LG is funded by Specialized
Systems Consultants, Inc. (SSC). But everything published on LG is open
content, and I'm pushing the 'post in native language' aspect of the
site. In this way, our local talent also gets recognition for their work
on an international level. And since it's owned by SSC, it's also sort
of a 'Star Search'.
I'm trying to tie it in with the needs of ICTs as well - so please, if
you're using Linux or any other FOSS, please feel free to register and
ask questions of the community. At this time, there are 9,175 registered
users from around the world sharing information with each other.
What do I get? Well, I get a cheque/check every month (woohoo! Regular
Pay!!) and some self satisfaction... I'll be traveling as I can afford
with this to get to know some of the communities. If you have pointers
to people who are doing good stuff in the region, I'm all ears - and
would prefer them to write about it so that they get the recognition
they deserve.
I'll be putting automated translation to French, Spanish and Dutch on
the site by the end of the month - perhaps other languages as well.
-- Taran Rampersad Moderation note: Good move! We just notice you wrote "... but coffee costs money" instead of "... but beers cost money". This is not very transparent for a start :-). W'ill send you Dominican coffee ... you owe us another beer.Nearby jue 16 sep 2004 08:34:33 AST
