I support Schiller's nomination. It is a good time, and even overdue for
the Caribbean to be represented at these fora. In the same vein, I want to
invite non commercial organisations of the Caribbean to join the Non
Commercial User Constituency which is an ICANN grouping focussed on the
interests of non commercial users of the Internet.
I served on the Executive Committee of the NCUC for this past year,
representing Latin America and the Caribbean but will be unable to continue
beyond this present term which is fast coming to an end. My experience is
that there are very few organisations from the Caribbean region involved in
the NCUC and we need to address this so that the best people can represent
us appropriately. In my case, I did not feel particularly qualified but here
was no one else and so I was convinced to step in. The NCUC is no longer the
poor cousin it once was, having recently been allocated funds to better
facilitate its participation in Internet governance matters. So as many of
