Pilots projectsBased on the ground work, two pilot projects will be executed between a European and a DC commercial partner.PILOT 1 - Out sourcing of routine CAD workThis represents the first level of ambition, involving the digitalization of existing paper drawings for a refurbishment project (hospital) in the Netherlands, together with the preparation of client visualizations. Emphasis is on asynchronous instruction, sharing of drawing conventions, and active designer participation in remote visualization. The execution of Pilot 1 is realized by EGM and TecAm, after a preparation
by TUD and PUCMM.
PILOT 2 - Europe-DC "joint venturing in overseas projectsThis pilot project represents the second level of ambition and adds the dimension of "partnering" with local firms when European firms contract projects overseas. The pilot is conducted in two phases. The first phase will address the issues of out sourcing work on a new construction project, a swimming pool constructed in the UK. The second phase reverses this situation, the project is built in the DC and the local firm sub-contracts to European office to provide "local presence" and DC specific knowledge. Emphasis is on sharing product information, visualization (phase 1), and partnering styles and sharing "local presence" information (phase 2) in the production of CAD drawings. The execution of Pilot 2 is realized by Faulkner-Brown and David Klautky,
after a preparation by UNINEW and UNIGUY.
"PILOT 3" - Intra-DC benchmark of collaborative GIS workThe benchmark will be designed to exploit the experiences of the two pilots. It targets the execution of intra DC cooperation in the vital area of urban development and deployment of GIS technology. This pilot brings the local DC parties together in a project dealing with urban development in the Dominican Republic, with a GIS partner in Guyana. It will provide the benchmark for region wide synergy of CAD skills in urban development projects.Creation: Dec. 2, 1997
