And my point was intended more to speak to the ethical dilemma Daniel
described - not to appear to be making a mockery of, or misrepresenting
someone else's brain child.I have been working on and off very slowly for some years translating a
German language PhD dissertation into English. I understand what she is
saying in German and it is sometimes incredibly difficult to make her say
just what she had intended in English.But use of the automatic system surely presupposes that its users have
some idea of the languages being manipulated? and that they understand
that a machine is NOT a person? and that they DO NOT consider the
automatic translation as a true equivalent of the "real thing"?
