This is a warmed over (re-written) version of the Press Release that the
Media Lab put out in February, then offering it as a promise for computing
in developing countries.
The way I read these press releases is that the Media Lab is in funding
trouble and sending out "fluff" (stuff with no substance) to keep its name
in the news.
The Media Lab has promised to have several hundred thousand of these
machines produced by next March (2006). Stay tuned for that milestone -
which may well never happen.
