This "One Laptop per Child" initiative is no longer associated
with MIT, nor with MicroSoft, and despite what the December 2006
Technology Review writes, this is not a parallel to the
philanthropy that funded public libraries in the US in
the 19th Century.

A 19th Century parallel would have been providing typewriters
for every rural school child, but no books, no teacher and no
school supplies.

Neither that foolhardy idea, nor OLPC, contains any sense or
wisdom.
