JOB TITLE Events and Logistics Coordinator/Executive Assistant

GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION OF POSITION
Applicant will need to be based in South Africa for at least 60% of
the duration of the contract.

REPORTING TO Executive Director

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
* To coordinate public relations, administration and events for the
APC, to provide a support service to ensure the smooth running of the
Executive Director's Office and to support the broader APC team.

KEY RESULT AREAS
* Administrative service and support to the Executive Director,
management team and the broader APC team
* Meeting planning and co-ordination, including APC Council, board
and staff meetings
* Event Management: workshops, conferences, seminars and meetings
* Networking and relationship building among APC members
* Coordination of membership application process
* Coordination of document management
* Coordination of human resource records
* Intranet management

CORE SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Excellent planning and organisational skills
Experience in organising international events
Rigorous, timely follow up and feedback
Able to communicate and interact at all levels, internally and externally
Good online and cross-cultural communications experience
Good written and verbal command of English language
Able to speak and/or write other languages, particularly international
languages such as Arabic, Spanish, French or
Portuguese an advantage
Able to take initiative and plan for contingencies
Accuracy and attentiveness to details
Ability to work well in a team
Flexible and self-managing and able to work independently
Confident approach
Reliable and consistent
Excellent administrative skills and administrative systems management
experience
Basic understanding of spreadsheets and ability to coordinate finances

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
University degree
Computer literacy: Wordprocessing, presentation software,
spreadsheets, Internet (email, mailing lists, website site
management). Interest in learning to use new applications when
necessary is a requirement.

EXPERIENCE
Three to five years in community outreach, public relations and
events organisation;
Experience in working at the level of supporting an executive team;
Knowledge and understanding of the ICT sector; Knowledge and
understanding of the nongovernmental and development sectors a strong
advantage; English essential; Spanish a strong asset.

OTHER CRITERIA
Commitment to development, social and environmental justice
Must be able to travel locally and internationally
Must be willing and able to live and work in South Africa for at
least 60% of duration of contract
