MISTICA: Caribbean ICT Roundtable

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Institute for
Connectivity in the Americas (ICA) are organizing the first Caribbean
ICT Roundtable to be held October 28-30, 2002 at the Accra Beach Hotel &
Resort in Barbados.

The main purpose of the Barbados Roundtable is to assess the needs and
contents of a regional strategy for ICT development, and determine the
next steps. An additional goal is to enable Caribbean stakeholders to
network, and design and promote regional ICT projects and programs.

The event will include participation by governments, the private sector,
Caribbean organizations, donor organizations, civil society, NGOs and
institutions of higher education. It will provide an opportunity for
these key participants and experts to meet and work together towards the
formulation of a sustainable regional ICT development approach.

The Caribbean ICT Roundtable is expected to be the first in a series of
Caribbean meetings dealing with information and communication
technologies, promoted by ICA, ITU and other development partners.
