I think we need a new word :-)
"Meld" is probably the closest to Senaida's sense of "mix and re-form", but the process needs to generate the
ideas to begin with. A "group hug" of ideas - but that doesn't indicate the creation of something new :-) Perhaps
we could offer an English close equivalent but also give the French original like this
 .. brainstorming, a "brassage" of ideas, ... 
I'll ask around to see if I can find a word that fits better

Je connais très mal l'anglais, mais je peux vous livrer les différentes
traductions de "brassage" de quelques banques de données terminologiques.
Attention, certains se réfèrent à des processus chimiques ou industriels ou à
des techniques... mais les anglophones pourront mieux choisir :

mixing (général)
stirring (agriculture)
agitation (brassage de la bière)
mashing (environnment)
rousing (vin)
stirring up (vin)
cranking (aviation)
scrambling (télécommunications)
