No wonder people did not attend. Only after I read the message twice in
the three languages was that I realized that the activity had something
to do with multilingualism on the Internet.
Still don't know if IDN stands for International Domain Names and is
only about url's with special characters or goes beyond that - I guess
I'll find out on my own when I go on-line...
Often we get so lost in our technicalities that assume everyone
understands what we are talking about and forget to explain in plain
words -not acronyms- what it is and its relevance.
We are all quite busy all the time and it is good courtesy to properly
inform the people you are addressing on the topic you are referring to,
preferably in the first few lines, rather than just complain.

I don't mean to be nasty or make fun, but look at the subject line:
"CARDICIS: MP3 of Users Forum on IDNs"
Out of 5 words, 3 are acronyms...

The first 2 sentences are of no help either...
The ALAC Users Forum on IDNs... huh, Association of Liberals and
Communists? ;-)
"very little input on IDNs from the LAC region"... continue the acronyms...

I felt I was being reprimanded for something I didn't even have a clue
what it was about...

Of course, I'm writing this from a crappy hotel in Kingston with no
wireless Internet access (hence the "crappy" label, regardless the
quality of the service and the huge room I'm in).
I guess if I had been on-line, I would have had googled IDN and would
have quickly replied that I was so sorry I missed the forum and promised
to participate in the future...
;-)

Cheers...
