WARNING: THE FOLLOWING IS A NON EDITED MACHINE TRANSLATION FROM THE ORIGINAL IN SPANISH Dear colleagues, I have been invited to make part of a "steering committee" for a project favored by the Spanish cooperation and financed by the European Union. EUROLATIS is called (Eurus-Latin American Information Society). It is an inspired square of a project similar with the countries of the Mediterranean (EUROMED) dedicated to foment proposals of projects colaborativos between Europe and Latin America around the thematic of the society of the information. The method is of organizing a series of thematic shops (I trade electronic, health, education, tourism...) that serve of mark to formulate proposals of collaboration and to establish associations. The first shop will be in Guatemala from the 3 to February 4 2000 on the topic of the electronic trade . I invite interested people then to present projects in this thematic one to read the annexed documents to this communication and to follow the steps indicated in the call to participation. The responsible for this shop is Rafael Menda <[email protected]>. The program of the shop is in the annexed document as well as the call to participation. It is of noticing that this foreseen a possibility to cover the expenses of some participants. At the moment all the documents are in English. The coordination unit, of the polytechnic University of Madrid soon should expose in the place web http://www.eurolatis.upm.es/ the documents and its translations. PS: At the moment not this foreseen a shop dedicated specifically to "social impact". I will try to convince of the importance of this topic and of proposing something as "list of the civil society in the society of the information".
